McDaid Makes History at CC Championship

HAVERFORD, Pa. – James McDaid made history as the first Ursinus runner to garner all-conference recognition as the Ursinus College men's cross country team secured seventh place at the Centennial Conference championship on Saturday.

Battling wet and windy conditions at Haverford, McDaid completed the 8-kilometer course in 26:11.5 to land in 14th place, the highest conference individual standing in school history. The junior was almost seven seconds clear of the next closest competitor.

McDaid's all-conference effort marked a major step up, as he finished 48th at the CC meet as a freshman and 36th a year ago.

The Bears wound up seventh for the second straight year, their first back-to-back finishes of seventh or better since 1997-98.

Junior Logan Mazullo was second across the line for Ursinus, placing 43rd in a time of 27:52.7.

Senior Andrew Voyack finished 54th with a 28:19.9 in his final conference championship run, while junior John Haase (28:24.56) and freshman Marcos Maciel (28:32.2) were next to each other in 57th and 58th, respectively. Maciel's mark was just two seconds off his personal best.

Junior John DeLia (28:46.0, 64th) and freshman Ed Martinez (28:56.1, 68th) rounded out the scoring for the Bears. Martinez notched a new PR by over 90 seconds. Fellow rookie Logan Yoquinto was just behind at 29:00.2.

Sophomore Kyle Berardi (29:16.3), senior Jonny Cope (29:48.4), sophomore Dylan Geissinger-Tuttle (30:02.4), and freshman Jesse Wun (30:34.2) also competed for Ursinus.

The Bears host their annual fall twilight meet on Friday before turning their attention to the Mideast Regional on November 10.
