Men's Track & Field Wins Four More Golds, Places Second at CC Indoor Championships

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team capped off a tremendous showing at the 2022 Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday by finishing second as a team for the second-straight championship meet.

 

The Bears racked up a program record 170.7 points as a team to record its fifth runner-up finish in the Championship meet. Ursinus was nearly a clear 100 points over third place McDaniel who scored 72.5 points and Haverford in fourth with 71.5 points. Johns Hopkins took home the team title for the ninth-straight year after posting a total score of 201.5. Ursinus took home eight medals on Sunday, half of them being gold, to maintain their positioning in the standings.

 

Senior Tyler Reilly polished off a dazzling weekend by taking home two individual gold medals and one relay gold medal. Reilly won gold for the first time at Centennial Championships in the 200- and 400-meter dash by posting times of 22.50 and 50.17, respectively. He then won his third-straight gold medal in the 4x400 relay as his team of sophomore Collin Ney, junior Daniel Tabor, and junior Payton Stanziani posted a winning-time of 3:25.73. Reilly posted 40 points on the weekend behind going a perfect 4-of-4 for first place finishes in his events and now has garnered 11 total medals along with eight gold medals in his three indoor championship appearances.

 

Senior Octavious Carter broke through in the 60-meter dash by winning his first indoor gold medal with a time of personal-best time of 7.00. Carter had previously finished fourth and second in the 60-meter dash in his first two tries and was seeded second heading into the event after posting a 7.05 in the prelims yesterday.

 

 Junior Daniel Maloney was edged in the 60-meter hurdles by McDaniel's Tyren Proctor as he took home the silver medal with a time of 8.46 just .2 off the winning mark. It was the second-straight silver medal for Maloney in the 60-meter hurdles at the indoor Championships.

 

Stanziani earned the silver medal behind Reilly in the 400-meter dash on a time of 51.32 to earn his second-straight runner up finish for the event at indoor championships. Tabor earned fourth and sixth place finishes in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. Tabor posted a time of 23.24 in the 200 before recording a new personal-best time of 51.86 in the 400-meter dash.

 

Freshman David Kenny had a breakout performance in the 800 meter run as he earned the silver medal on a time of 1:58.73.

 

Senior Zach Crebbin took home second in the high jump for the second-straight indoor championships as he posted a mark of 6-6 ft. to match his jump from two years ago. Freshman Trey Rolle finished fourth with a person-best jump of 6-2 ft. and sophomore Michael Agbeye placed sixth as he set a personal best as well with a jump of 5-8 ft. Crebbin and Rolle also competed in the long jump and took home seventh and eighth place finishes, respectively.

 

Junior Pat Patterson-Zuber led seven Bears in the shot put as he recorded a fourth-place finish behind a career-best throw of 45-3.75 ft. Senior Nick Galbraith followed in fifth with a throw of 43-9 ft. and junior Isaiah Battle placed seventh with a mark of 42-0.50 ft. For the weekend, the Bears earned 12 total medals as a team with seven gold medals and five silver medals.

 

The Bears will return to action on Friday, March 4th as they will compete at the two-day AARTFC Championship hosted by Nazareth College beginning at 11 a.m.
