NEW ORLEANS – Ursinus College men's track and field sophomore Mike Felix was named an All-Mideast Region selection by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA), the organization announced on Sunday.
The top five individuals in each event from each region are awarded all-region status, in addition to each of the members of a top-three relay team. The regions used for this award process – Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast, West – match those used during both the cross country and indoor track and field season.
Felix posted the fourth-best mark in the region in the javelin. His top mark came at the most opportune time as he unleashed a toss of 192-11 to claim gold at the Centennial Conference outdoor championship. He was more than 17 feet clear of the runner-up in becoming the Bears' first javelin champion since 2009.
Felix is Ursinus' first outdoor all-region honoree since the 2016 campaign.
