CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's track and field team is making its presence felt at the top of the Centennial Conference performance list.
A freshman, a sophomore, and a relay team comprised of three rookies ascended to the apex of the conference standings with a series of sensational performances at Widener's Danny Curran Invitational. Sophomore Mike Felix (javelin), freshman Tyler Reilly (400), and the 4x100-meter relay unit all posted the best times in the league in the early portion of the outdoor season for the Bears, who finished seventh in a 29-team field.
Felix soared to the top of the conference charts with a massive PR, hurling the javelin all of 57.54 meters to go more than four meters clear of the current second-place mark.
Reilly blazed his way to a 49.65 in the 400-meter dash, placing himself atop the conference performance list. Fellow rookie Bradley Duncan-Taylor crossed the line in 50.60, currently good for second in the CC with a personal best.
Freshman Zach Crebbin also assumed his spot on top of the CC performance list by clearing 1.90 meters in the high jump for the first time.
Freshman Octavious Carter, Reilly, freshman Tyree Williams-Jackson, and junior Austin Bittenbender finished the 4x100-meter relay in 43.35 seconds, good for the fastest time in the conference and just over a second behind the outdoor program record.
Carter (23.14) and Duncan-Taylor went step for step in the 200-meter dash, the latter pairing a PR with his collegiate best from the 400. Junior Andre Kelly's 23.52 was also a new PR.
Bittenbender took over fourth place on the outdoor performance list with a leap of 6.37 meters in the long jump
Sophomore Griffin McMann moved up to third in the CC with a mark of 38.35 meters in the discus.
Freshman Brandon Slaboda achieved a new personal best with a 1:04.95 in the 400-meter hurdles.
