LANCASTER, Pa. – After a huge medal haul at the indoor championship, eight members of the Ursinus College men's track and field team were recognized on the All-Centennial Conference team.
Freshmen Bradley Duncan-Taylor and Tyler Reilly each earned a pair of first-team laurels for their efforts as part of the gold medal-winning 4x200 and 4x400 meter relays. Fellow rookie Octavious Carter and junior Austin Bittenbender joined them on the first team for the 4x200, while junior Andre Kelly and freshman Logan Yoquinto did so on the 4x400 squad.
Freshman Nick Galbraith secured first-team honors as the inaugural weight throw champion.
Reilly also collected a second-team certificate for finishing runner-up in the 200-meter dash, while Kelly (400) and freshman Zach Crebbin (high jump) received honorable mention after winning bronze medals in their respective events.
The 4x200 team became the first Ursinus quartet to win the event since 2009 by posting a time of 1:33.00 and holding off stiff challenges from McDaniel and Dickinson. The group's clocking was two-thirds of a second short of the indoor program record set in 2007.
The 4x400 quartet helped the Bears end the meet on the highest of notes with a winning time of 3:26.05, more than a second and a half clear of the rest of the field. The quartet became the third 4x400 unit in team history to win CC indoor gold and the first since 2015. The 4x400 victory was the second relay gold of the championship for Duncan-Taylor and Reilly, who also won the 4x200-meter relay on Saturday and marked the first time in program history that the Bears captured multiple relay golds at the indoor meet.
Galbraith made history as the first champion of the weight throw competition at the indoor meet, uncorking a heave of 45-5.25 to outdistance Dickinson's Francisco Villareal by almost one-and-a-half feet. The rookie's toss was easily good for a new program record.
Reilly put on a remarkable display on the second and final day of the championship, earning two of the team's four medals. The rookie gave Ursinus a massive lift in the 200-meter dash, earning silver with a runner-up finish to give the Bears an 8-point haul thanks to a personal-best 23.11.
The 400-meter dash was especially fruitful for the Bears, who accounted for three of the top six finishers. Kelly, who finished fifth a year ago, earned bronze with a run of 51.70 for his first career individual medal at the conference indoor meet.
Crebbin achieved his first conference medal with a big PR in the high jump, where his mark of 6-4.75 (1.95 meters) was good for bronze.
Junior John DeLia was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
