Men's T&F Starts Strong in Indoor Opener

LANCASTER, Pa. – Three members of the Ursinus College men's track and field team finished in the top four of the 800-meter run to highlight a strong indoor opener at Franklin & Marshall's Diplomat Open.

Freshman Logan Yoquinto led the way with a 2:00.84, less than a quarter of a second off the first-place pace, while junior Andre Kelly (2:02.58) and freshman Bradley Duncan-Taylor (2:03.12) were the third and fourth runners to cross the line.

Junior James McDaid logged a new personal best in the 5 kilometers, completing the race in 15:45.86 to place ninth. His time was within 10 seconds of the all-time program mark held by Sam Stortz since 2011. Senior Andrew Voyack tallied a new PR in the 3K (9:28.86).

Freshman Nick Galbraith made an impressive debut in the weight throw, going up to 12.12 meters to finish fifth overall. Sophomore George Psaradakis marked a new PR in the event (10.68 meters) and repeated the feat in the shot put (11.32 meters). Sophomore Griffin McMann was sixth in the shot put with a toss of 12.58 meters, and Galbraith finished 13th at 11.63 meters.

Freshman Octavious Carter, a running back on the Bears' football team, put his electrifying speed on display with a time of 7.11 seconds in the 60-meter dash; he placed fifth and wound up just .07 seconds off Jequan Mitchell's school record from 2016.

Freshman Zach Crebbin was impressive in the high jump, clearing 1.90 meters to finish third in his first collegiate action.

Kelly joined Duncan-Taylor, Yoquinto, and freshman Tyler Reilly to place sixth in the 4x400-meter relay (3:39.66).

Sophomore Dylan Geissinger-Tuttle (4:55.12) and sophomore Jesse Wun (4:56.90) each cracked the 5-minute barrier in the mile.

The track and field teams resume action after winter break, when they host the annual Collegeville Classic on January 19.
