Men's 4x400 Impresses at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's track and field team's 4x400-meter relay team shot to the top of the Centennial Conference performance list with an impressive effort at the Penn Relays on Friday.

Senior Jequan Mitchell and sophomores Codi Yhap, James McDaid, and Andre Kelly finished fifth in the annual Pop Haddleton Centennial/MAC showcase, outpacing four other conference squads with a 3:23.51.

The Bears' quartet now owns the best clocking in the CC this season. Johns Hopkins was nearly a second back at 3:24.48, with Swarthmore (3:27.38) and McDaniel (3:28.26) also among the league's entrants.

Yhap registered the second-fastest second lap of the night at 50.40 seconds and Kelly finished strong with 49.98 closing split, passing the last runner for Johns Hopkins in the process.

The track and field teams head to Elizabethtown on Saturday for the Blue Jay Tune-Up, their final meet before hosting the CC championships next weekend.
