BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's track and field team lowered a number of season bests as the Bears brought a contingent of mostly sprints and throws to Moravian's Coach P Invitational on Saturday.
Sophomore Andre Kelly tallied a 50.91 in the 400-meter dash, elevating to third on the conference charts.
Sophomore Codi Yhap also moved to third in the CC, this time in the long jump; his first effort of the outdoor campaign resulted in a mark of 20-11.25.
Senior Mitchell Kelly trimmed almost three full seconds off his season best in the 800 (2:05.49), where freshman Ian Steele finished in 2:05.82.
Senior Jamie Casseus led a quartet of Bears in the 100-meter dash, crossing the line in 12.11 seconds. Freshman Leroy Brown finished in 12.55, and senior Connor Lent was on his heels with a 12.61. Freshman Matt Thatcher (13.11) rounded out the group.
The group of senior Jequan Mitchell, Yhap, junior Shy'Quan Davis, and freshman Zack Beavers moved to fourth in the conference with a 44.76 in the 4x100-meter relay.
Mitchell completed the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.20 to place himself sixth in the conference and Beavers upped his standing to eighth with a 1:03.34.
Sophomore Carlo Telesco added two feet to his season benchmark in the discus, where his toss of 124-2 is good for 13th in the CC.
Freshman Riley Grourke's heave of 148-2 in the javelin was a PR by more than 10 feet, and classmate Mike Felix led five Bears with a 160-1.
Sophomore Brody Johnson recorded a clocking of 24.62 in the 200-meter dash.
