McDaid, Kelly Win at Mid-Week Twilight

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Mitchell Kelly and James McDaid posted individual victories as the Ursinus College men's track and field team competed at the annual Gwynedd Mercy Mid-Week Twilight Meet on Wednesday evening.

McDaid's 1:58.06 marked a new personal best and was enough to outpace the runner-up by just over a full second. Fellow sophomore Andre Kelly, meanwhile, finished one hundredth of a second off his season best with a 2:01.04 for fourth place, and classmate John Haase's 2:01.67 stood as a new PR.

McDaid also finished seventh in the 5000 meters (16:42.75), where freshman Kyle Berardi landed one spot behind in eighth (16:44.70).

Mitchell Kelly's 58.06 in the 400-meter hurdles was 1.40 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor and moved him all the way up to second in the Centennial Conference.

Sophomore Codi Yhap secured a new PR with a 41-5.75 in the triple jump, where he finished second and elevated himself to second on the conference performance list. Additionally, Yhap's 52.67 was good for fifth in the 400-meter dash, where senior Jequan Mitchell crossed the line in sixth at 52.77.

Sophomore Craig Lauer, fresh off a strong performance in his steeplechase debut at the Ursinus Invitational, came back with another PR of 10:20.72 to finish runner-up.

Sophomore Austin Bittenbender finished fifth in the javelin (159-1), and senior Connor Lent (151-11) was sixth and freshman Mike Felix seventh (149-10). Felix marked a PR with an 18-7.25 in the long jump.

Freshman Griffin McMann was fifth in the shot put (45-00.50), and fellow rookie George Psaradakis (36.00) scored a personal best. McMann did secure a PR with a discus toss of 113 feet, which was good for ninth place. Psaradakis was just off his personal best with a 114-7 in the hammer.

Junior Shy'Quan Davis recorded a new PR of 12.39 in the 100-meter dash.
