Men's T&F Places 6th at CC Indoor Meet

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's track and field team posted a bevy of personal bests and narrowly missed a medal on several events during the last day of the Centennial Conference indoor championship on Sunday.

The Bears moved up a spot from last season to finish sixth in the team standings. Johns Hopkins continued its run of dominance with 215 points, with Haverford in second at 149. Swarthmore (85) was third, followed by Dickinson (60), Muhlenberg (57), Ursinus (45), Gettysburg (39), McDaniel (36), and Franklin and Marshall (14).

Senior Adam Myers, a two-time runner-up in the indoor shot put, placed fourth with a toss of 48-2.50. Freshman Griffin McMann was 10th at 45-8.50, and sophomore Carlo Telesco eclipsed his previous PR by more than a foot, finishing 12th with a mark of 42-11.

Sophomore Codi Yhap was a double individual place-winner for the Bears. He took fourth in the long jump, breaking his former personal record by almost four inches with a leap of 20-5.75, and was seventh in the 200-meter dash with a 23.60. Yhap also finished sixth in the triple jump a day earlier.

Yhap's 200 time was one hundredth of a second off the pace set by senior Jequan Mitchell, who was sixth in a season-best 23.59. Mitchell was seeded 12th, but outperformed his seed time by nearly half a second to move into scoring position.

Sophomore Andre Kelly crossed the line in 51.91 seconds in the 400-meter dash, good for a fifth-place finish.

Sophomore James McDaid turned in the best indoor 800 of his career by a wide margin, lowering his previous personal best by almost four full seconds to come in fifth, five spots higher than his projected finish. His 1:58.39 was just 0.24 seconds off his overall personal record, set during last year's outdoor campaign.

Mitchell, Yhap, McDaid, and Kelly just missed a medal in the 4x400-meter relay, finishing in 3:31.81 to settle for fourth place. They were just over a half-second back of third-place McDaniel.

Senior Connor Lent placed eighth in the heptathlon with a combined score of 3003 points.
