Kelly Leads T&F at Keogh Invite

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Andre Kelly put up a pair of first-place performances to lead a strong effort for the Ursinus College track and field teams at Haverford's Keogh Invitational on Saturday.

Kelly won the 400-meter dash and ran the last leg of the 4x200-meter relay team, joining senior Jequan Mitchell, sophomore Codi Yhap, and sophomore Austin Bittenbender for a Centennial-Conference leading 1:33.31. That time is just under a second off the indoor school record established in 2007. Kelly's 51.53 in the 400 is good for fourth on the conference performance list.

The members of the Bears' victorious relay unit also turned in excellent afternoons. Yhap scored a new personal best with a fourth-place showing in the long jump (20-2.25) and placed fifth in the triple jump (11.86 meters), while Mitchell matched his season best and won his section with a 7.32 in the 60-meter dash.

Shot put remained a strong point for the Ursinus men. Senior Adam Myers led three Bears in the top 8 with a heave of 14.10 meters, placing third overall. Freshman Griffin McMann placed fourth at 13.80 meters, and sophomore Carlo Telesco was eighth at 12.61 meters. Freshman George Psaradakis recorded a new PR (10.78m).

Freshman Ian Steele notched a personal best in the 800 (2:07.53).

The women stacked together a number of season bests. Freshman Gianna Speranza netted a PR in the 200, placing fourth in 27.67, and sophomore Auresa Cunningham's 29.02 was a season benchmark.

Senior Jenna Kelly moved to 10th in the CC with a 1:02.79 in the 400, and junior Brittany Gasser was right behind with a season-best 1:03.48.

Freshman Kateryna Swan accomplished a new PR in the long jump (4.83 meters), and junior Caroline Buckley was just off a season best at 4.76 meters.

Freshman Vikki Rueda-Juarez logged a PR with a toss of 34-1.25 feet in the shot put, moving into the top-10 on the conference charts. Fellow rookie Shelsea Deravil's 27-11 was also a personal best.

Junior Audrey Simpson's 2:35.42 in the 800 was a new season best.

Sophomore Kira Miller was ninth in the 60 hurdles (10.50), and junior Morgan Cope tied for eighth in the pole vault at 2.55 meters.

The track and field teams host the Centennial Conference Indoor Championships next Saturday and Sunday.
