Four Earn All-CC Men's T&F Honors

2016-17 All-CC Men's Track and Field

LANCASTER, Pa. – Following the conclusion of the 2016-17 outdoor campaign, the Ursinus College men's track and field team placed four of its members on the All-Centennial Conference Team released Wednesday.

Juniors Mitchell Kelly (400-meter hurdles) and Adam Myers (shot put) grabbed second team honors, while senior Patrick Mekongo (200-meter dash) and freshman Austin Bittenbender (long jump) received honorable mention recognition.

The Centennial Conference awards all-league status on the basis of performance at the championship meet. Winners earn first team status, while second place is rewarded with second team honors and third place is accompanied by honorable mention.

Kelly collected his first conference medal with a silver in the 400 hurdles at the CC outdoor championship. Kelly, who won the preliminaries, turned in a personal-best clocking of 56.47.

Myers doubled down on shot put silver with a season-best heave of 49-0.75, giving him a second CC medal to match the silver he earned at this year's indoor meet.

Mekongo picked up his third career outdoor medal with a bronze in the 200-meter dash. Mekongo, who crossed the line in 22.33, was runner-up in the event in 2015 and placed third in 2014.

Bittenbender garnered a bronze medal with a massive PR in the long jump. He extended his previous benchmark by nearly two feet with a leap of 21-2.00, elevating all the way from the 15th seed.

Mekongo and Bittenbender also joined junior Jequan Mitchell and freshman Codi Yhap to finish third in the 4x100-meter relay (43.51).

Freshman James McDaid was named to the All-CC Sportsmanship Team.
