HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Ursinus College track and field teams tuned up for next weekend's Centennial Conference championships with a number of strong performances at Haverford's Keogh Invitational on Saturday.
Junior Erin Farrell won the 60-meter dash in 8.17 seconds, tying her personal best; she will enter next weekend's championships as the seventh seed in the event.
Junior Tia Wisdo ran a personal best (28.63) to place 10th overall and qualify for the conference championships.
Sophomore Jenna Kelly (1:02.88) and freshman Brittany Gasser (1:02.89) were neck-and-neck in third and fourth in the 400, with Kelly's clocking marking a new personal best. Wisdo was 13th with a clocking of 1:07.61, enough to qualify for the championships.
Freshman Gabrielle Manto (2:38.63) and sophomore Lily Talerman (2:38.91) each registered a season best in the 800.
The quartet of Farrell, Gasser, Kelly, and sophomore Katherine Damato finished third in the 4x200-meter relay with a season-low 1:50.72.
Senior Kimberly Snow placed fifth in the pole vault (4-7.75), while freshman Morgan Cope was fourth in the triple jump with a personal best leap (32-1.00).
Freshman Briana Campbell finished fourth in the shot put (27-7.50).
On the men's side, freshman Samuel Pope continued his outstanding rookie campaign with a victory in the 400, where his time of 50.79 is good for second in the conference.
Sophomore Jequan Mitchell placed second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.21, which ranks him third on the CC performance list. Senior Skyler McCormick was fifth overall in the 200 (23.76).
Freshmen Evan Cirafesi (2:07.22) and Andrew Voyack (2:07.35) both qualified for the conference championships in the 800, placing 12th and 13th overall.
Sophomore Joseph Iuliucci (9:20.32) and senior James Hartop (9:46.84) each ran personal bests in the 3k, and freshman Adam Friend's 11-11.75 in the pole vault was good for another personal benchmark and ninth place overall.
The Bears return to Collegeville to host the Centennial Conference championships next Saturday and Sunday.
