Men's Track and Field opens up outdoor season at Danny Curran Invite

CHESTER, Pa. – After having its first meet cancelled due to weather, the Ursinus College men's track and field team opened up its 2015 outdoor season at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University.

Battling cold and windy conditions, the Bears turned in some good times in their first outdoor meet of the year.

On Friday night under the lights, Joseph Iuliucci, James Hartop and Jason Rudich competed in the 10k for the first time in their careers. Iuliucci finished with a  time of 34:23, which qualified him for the Centennial Conference Championship.

On Saturday, Darius Jones had an impressive double on the track as he finished fourth in the 200 with a time of 22.6 and eighth in the 400 at 51.5. His 200 time is currently the best in the Centennial Conference.

Patrick Mekongo was fifth overall in the 400 at 51.2, while Richard Schulz ran a 53.2 in the 400, while Miles Perkins clocked a 53.7

In the 200, Anthony Sierzega had a 23.9.

In the 400 hurdles, Erich Keyser finished nine with a time of 59.1.

In the field events, Aaron Salaga and Thomas Donnelly both threw well over the qualifying standard. Salaga had a 155-4 and Donnelly threw a 153-9.
