COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – A total of 29 teams, and 500 athletes, will desend upon the Floy Lewis Bakes Fieldhouse on Saturday for the 2015 Frank Colden Invitational. The meet will start at 9 a.m.
The meet is named after former Ursinus student-athlete Frank Colden, who passed away in 2001 from a brain tumor. The meet was named in his honor in 2005.
In addition, several Ursinus alumni will be running in an alumni mile at 11:30 a.m.
Looking at the seeding, Ursinus has several student athletes who will be receiving high seeds. On the men's side, freshman Adam Myers in fourth in the shot put at 44-3. Senior Darius Jones is the third seed in the high jump at 6-6.
In the 5k, freshman Joseph Iuliucci is the second seed at 16:15, and he will look to hit or better the Centennial Conference indoor standard of 16:11.
In the sprints, Jones along with seniors Anthony Sierzega, Evan Shea and Richard Schulz will be leading the Bears in the 60, 200, 400 and 4x2.
Turning to the women, senior Emily Lamb is the second seed at 2:18 in the 800 and will be looking to break the school record in the event set by Christa Johnson in 2009.
In the 4x2, sophomores Chloe Johnson-Hyde, Erin Farrell, junior Kristen Prijs and freshman Catherine Buczek will be competing in the fast heat.
Also, associate head coach Carmen Graves will be running in the 3k. Her personal best time of 9:21 is 30 seconds better than the current facility record.
