WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Ursinus College men's tennis team won all but one contested match to power its way to its first Centennial Conference victory of the season, a 7-2 triumph at McDaniel.

The Green Terror picked up a three-set win at number one singles, but other than that it was all Bears.

Sophomores Mason Groff and Matt Fontanese rolled to an 8-1 win at number one doubles. Senior Jake Lachowicz and junior Connor DeFaber-Schumacher were 8-2 winners at second doubles, and sophomore Kyle Bookman teamed with freshman Simbarashe Kanjanda to match that score line at number three.

Luke Shuck edged Groff in a 7-5, 5-7, 10-7 thriller on the top singles court, but the other four were controlled by Ursinus.

DeFaber-Schumacher picked up a 6-2, 6-0 result at number two singles, and Fontanese won 6-0, 6-2 on the third court.

Lachowicz produced a 6-2, 6-1 result at number four, and Bookman registered a 6-4, 6-1 decision on the fifth and final court. McDaniel won via forfeit at number six.

The Bears head to Messiah for a non-conference match on Monday.
