COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Several Ursinus College men's tennis players extended winning streaks as the Bears handled Cabrini, 7-2, in non-conference action at the Bailey Courts.

Senior Jake Lachowicz joined sophomores Matt Fontanese and Mason Groff in stretching their individual runs to help Ursinus (3-4) pick up its first home win of the season.

Fontanese and Groff made it four in a row at number one doubles, rolling to an 8-2 result on the top court.

The other two doubles matches were tightly contested, but went the way of the hosts. Junior Connor DeFaber-Schumacher and freshman Simbarashe Kanjanda edged out an 8-6 result at number two, while Lachowicz and sophomore Kyle Bookman moved to 4-3 together with an 8-6 victory on the third court.

Lachowicz was first in the win column in singles for the Bears, cruising to a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at number five and stretching his individual winning streak to six matches.

Fontanese has won his last four singles matches following a 6-4, 6-1 decision at number three, and Groff made it three for his last three with a 6-2, 6-0 final at number one.

DeFaber-Schumacher had no issues in a 6-1, 6-1 score line at number two singles. The Cavaliers (5-2) grabbed their lone points at fourth and sixth singles.

The Bears hit the road to face Goucher on Saturday.
