Men's Swimming Posts Pool Relay Record

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's swimming team established a new pool record in the 200 free relay in a 158-104 Centennial Conference setback to Gettysburg.

The Bears (3-2, 2-2) saved their best for the last event of the afternoon. Jacob Menzer swam the opening leg and was followed by Ryan Carkhuff, Casey Lear, and Daniel Mueser, who touched the wall in a time of 1:25.26 to edge by about half a second the previous mark set last year by Swarthmore.

Mueser was also one of three Ursinus swimmers to tally an individual victory, finishing first in the 100 fly with a mark of 51.63. Mueser owns the top two times in the Centennial in the event.

Michael Prior, already the CC leader in the 200 back, was three-tenths of a tick off his season best with a 1:54.43, still more than five seconds ahead of the second-place finisher from Gettysburg.

Samuel Taffet followed Prior's win with one of his own, edging Gettysburg's Danny Petrillo with a 2:14.35 in the 200 breast.

After Menzer turned in a runner-up effort in the 500 free (4:48.95), Mueser picked up his individual victory.

Prior was runner-up in both the 100 back (53.73) and 200 IM (2:01.32), and also joined Taffet, Mueser, and Menzer to take second in the 400 medley relay (3:33.98).

Matt Snyder was second in the 100 breast (1:01.79) ahead of Trevor Mislan in third (1:03.11). Taffet took second in the 200 fly (2:02.99), with Carkhuff placing runner-up in the 50 free (21.45). Mueser added a second-place finish in the 100 free (47.76).
