Men's Swimming Rolls Past McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Ursinus College men's swimming team cruised to a 68-26 victory in a Centennial Conference dual meet at McDaniel on Saturday.

Jacob Menzer and Michael Prior were both double winners for the Bears (3-1, 2-1), who bounced back comfortably from their first loss of the season at Swarthmore the previous weekend.

Menzer led off the individual proceedings with a dominating win in the 400 IM, touching in 4:15.31 to clear runner-up Maxwell Valierano by over 10 seconds with the best time in the CC this season.

Prior followed with the first of his two triumphs, completing the 200 free in 1:47.23 to edge teammate Daniel Mueser (1:48.32) in second.

Matt Snyder rolled to victory with a 1:03.60 in the 100 breast, and Mueser captured top billing in the 100 fly (52.79), beating out Matthew Buccella by just over a second.

Menzer capped his double with a victory in the 100 back (55.98), and Prior was next to match him with a 4:48.42 in the 500 free, good for second in the conference.

Jared Krawetz, Buccella, Ryan Schreffler, and Mueser combined to take first place in the 200 free relay at 1:29.75.

Ryan Carkhuff was runner-up in the 50 free (21.65), and Schreffler posted a second-place showing in the 100 free (49.28).

The Bears return home to face Gettysburg next Saturday.
