Men's Swimming Routs McDaniel

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's swimming team cruised to a 139-41 dual meet victory over McDaniel by taking all but one event at Elliott Pool.

The Bears (3-1, 2-1) bounced back after a defeat at the hands of Swarthmore in their last meet. Ursinus opened the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay on its way to winning 10 of the 11 events on the day. Sophomore Michael Prior, senior Devin Nielsen, freshman Reid Harpel, and senior Daniel Becker turned in a winning time of 1.41.17 in the relay.

Juniors Jacob Menzer and Jared Krawetz each earned a pair of individual victories on the day. Menzer set team-best times for the season in the 400 IM (4:14.62) and 100 Free (47.83). Menzer's 400 IM ranks second in the CC and his 100 free stands at third. Krawetz won in the 50 free sprint in a time of 22.53 and also claimed first in the 500 free (4:55.76).

Senior Maxwell Coulter won the 200 free (1:49.47), while Nielsen was first in the 100 breast (1:03.36).

Freshman Ryan Carkhuff and Harpel won the 100 backstroke (58.39) and 100 butterfly (57.00), respectively.

McDaniel touched the end wall first in just one events, as Jose Pac won the 100 IM in 56.76.

The Bears travel to Gettysburg next Saturday for a 1 p.m. meet.
