Prior Wins Silver in 200 Back

LANCASTER, Pa. – Michael Prior grabbed a silver medal and Maxwell Coulter broke his own program record as the Ursinus College men's swimming team concluded the Centennial Conference championship on Sunday.

Prior was runner-up in the 200 back and Coulter lowered his team standard in the 200 breast for the Bears, who finished in fifth place with 465 points. Gettysburg cruised to the team crown with 759.5 points, well clear of second-place Swarthmore (543.5). Washington College (517) was third, followed by Franklin & Marshall (502), Ursinus, Dickinson (397), and McDaniel (194).

Prior finished slightly off the program record held by Will Benn in the 200 back, completing the race in 1:51.47 to land behind only F&M's Andrew Feeley (1:51.10). Junior Devin Nielsen placed 14th in 1:59.60.

Sophomore Jacob Menzer nabbed bronze with a time of 16:17.54 in the 1650 free, where junior Daniel Powell posted a big PR of 16:30.70. Junior Kevin Gill placed eighth (17:00.98) and senior Christopher Barthold took ninth (17:09.50).

Sophomore Casey Lear also narrowly missed a new program benchmark, finishing fourth in the 100 free in 46.70, only .04 ticks off John Wieczorek's record from 2014.

Senior Colin McNamara was fourth in the 200 fly (1:55.00), where junior James Callaghan was fifth (1:55.58) and junior Johnathan Myers sixth (1:56.00).

A night after posting a new team record in the 100 breast, junior Maxwell Coulter blew past his own mark in the 200. Coulter's 2:08.68 was nearly two seconds faster than the time he posted at last year's championship meet, and was good for ninth place. Classmate Reid Luksic wound up in 15th with a 2:14.54.

Lear, junior Travis Venables, sophomore Jared Krawetz, and Menzer were fifth in the 400 free relay with a clocking of 3:09.83.
