Lightning Wrecks Men's Soccer Opener

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Ursinus College men's soccer team's season began in strange fashion on Friday night as the Bears waited out several hours' worth of lightning delays only to have their opener at Catholic abandoned with the squads locked in a scoreless deadlock early in the second half.

The game will not be made up and statistics will not count.

Neither side was able to find a breakthrough in the first 53 minutes of action, though the host Cardinals had more chances. Catholic held a 9-2 advantage in shots when play was called, but Ursinus senior goalkeeper Brandon Lillian stopped both of the ones directed on frame.

The Bears are schedueled to take on Randolph-Macon Saturday at noon at The Landon School in Bethesda, Maryland.
