WASHINGTON, Md. – A golden goal in the 96th minute of play, off the foot of freshman forward Jamie Harper (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends), gave Ursinus (5-6-2, 2-3-1 Centennial) a 2-1 overtime win over Washington College (4-8-1, 0-5-1 Centennial) on Saturday afternoon down in Delmarva in men's soccer action.
The Bears, who trailed 1-0 at intermission, got a key win to stay alive in the Centennial Conference playoff race with two weeks to go.
Harper, who scored his second goal of the year, scored on a defensive misplay by the Shoremen at 95:04.
Ursinus tied the score at 1-all in the 67th minute when junior forward Ryan Butler (Palmyra, N.J./Palmyra) scored on a penalty kick.
Freshman goalkeeper Brian Gately (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) did not allow a goal after the Shoremen scored in the 21st minute, picking up six saves on the day.
Ursinus hosts Catholic on Tuesday, before facing McDaniel on Saturday on Homecoming.
