COLLEGEVILLE, Pa - Freshman Brendan Werner scored his first collegiate goal, but I wasn't enough for the Ursinus Men's Soccer team to take down Widener, falling 2-1 Wednesday night at Patterson Field.
The Bears fall to 0-2 for the season while the Pride improve to 2-0-1.
The first half stalemate ended when Widener scored on a long shot from Tori Remondelli in the final minutes of the first half, to take a 1-0 lead. The Pride kept momentum going with another goal in the 53rd minute on a rebound from the right wing.
Ursinus kept pressing the box until the 81st minute when Werner scored on a header across the middle from Ryan Molyneaux.
The Bears return to action Saturday evening at Misericordia.
