Men's Soccer blanks Immaculata, 2-0

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Ursinus erupted for two goals in the second half as the Bears (1-1) defeated Immaculata (0-4) 2-0 Wednesday afternoon in men's soccer play. The match was played in heavy rain, and also saw a 30-minute delay due to lightning in the first half.

In the second half, Ursinus got on the board in the 49th minute as sophomore forward Ricky Griffith (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) scored his second goal of the season on an assist from junior defender Colin Kunkle (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson).

In the 54th minute, Ursinus got a goal from sophomore forward Nick Despirito (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) who banged one in on a header via a cross from freshman midfielder Cameron Labeck (Boston, Mass./Boston Latin School).

The two goals were more than enough for senior goalkeeper Mike Alfieri (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) who made four saves on six shots.

Ursinus owned a 16-6 advantage on shots and had a 12-5 edge on corner kicks.

The Bears head south to St. Mary's of Maryland for a weekend tournament.
