DeSimone, McClure Earn All-America Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A pair of Ursinus College men's lacrosse stars were recognized for their historic campaigns as senior Peter DeSimone and junior Bobby McClure received honorable mention All-America certificates from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA).

DeSimone and McClure each earned their first All-America laurel after combining for nearly half of the Bears' goals and points and helping to lead Ursinus to its first-ever Centennial Conference championship with two of the most prolific seasons in school history.

McClure established team records for goals (59) and points (81) in a single year, ranking fourth in the CC in each category. A second team all-conference choice, McClure already stands second all-time in goals (116) and third in points (155) at Ursinus. The junior registered a hat trick in all but three games this season, including a pair of six-goal, two-assist outbursts against Eastern and McDaniel, and put up three goals and three assists in the NCAA Tournament second-round game against Springfield.

DeSimone missed the entire postseason but still managed to tie his career high with 38 goals and add 23 assists for 61 points, the third-highest single-season total in program history. He posted four games with at least five goals, most notably going off for seven markers in a thrilling overtime victory at nationally ranked Franklin & Marshall to help the Bears ensure a postseason berth.

A three-time All-CC performer and the 2016 conference rookie of the year, DeSimone leaves Ursinus as the all-time record-holder with 121 goals and 184 assists. He also scooped up 106 ground balls and made 55 starts over his tenure with the Bears.

The selections of DeSimone and McClure give Ursinus multiple All-Americans in the same season for the fourth time in its history, and the first since 2016.

The Bears finished the 2019 campaign, the first under CC coach of the year Gary Mercadante, with a record of 13-4 and a 5-3 league mark, toppling Gettysburg for their first conference crown and playing an NCAA Tournament home game for the first time.
