Men's Lacrosse Up to No. 17 in Nike/USILA Rankings

Nike/USILA Division III Coaches Poll

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's lacrosse team moved up one spot to No. 17 in the latest Nike/USILA Division III Coaches Poll, which was released Monday afternoon.

The Bears received 87 points in the Top-20 poll, tied with Ohio Wesleyan for 17th. Monday marked Ursinus' fifth straight week appearing in the poll, which featured a new No. 1 team following previously undefeated Salisbury's first loss of the season.

The Sea Gulls, who had topped the rankings for five consecutive weeks, fell to No. 3 after a 10-9 setback at the hands of then-No. 12 York on Saturday. Ithaca, which has won 14 straight games, moved into the top spot with 378 points and 8 first-place votes, while RIT (369, 4 first-place votes) remained in second. Salisbury (367, 5) was third, followed by St. Lawrence (344, 1), Tufts (317, 1), Denison (284, 1), Gettysburg (282), York (275), Middlebury (220), and Stevenson (193).

Ursinus (13-2, 7-1) won both of its games during the previous week, edging past Haverford, 10-8, on Wednesday before a 12-5 victory over McDaniel on Saturday.

The Bears are set to host Franklin & Marshall in a Centennial Conference semifinal under the Patterson Field lights at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Ursinus, which is making is first-ever return trip to the conference championship tournament, went undefeated at home during the regular season for the first time in school history and is carrying a 10-game home winning streak.
