It wasn't a pretty start for the Ursinus men's lacrosse team but they overcame a slow start to cruise to an 11-5 victory over the visiting Haverford College Fords. The Bears also solidified their place in the CC Tournament with the Second Seed.

The Fords came out swinging taking the early 1-0 lead when Alejandro Vega (Cheswick, PA) found the back of the net after nearly 10 minutes of scoreless lacrosse. However, the Fords lead did not last long as freshmen midfielder Ian Desenberg (York, PA) knotted the game at 1-1.

The Bears started to pull away in the 2nd quarter when they ran off four straight goals to end the 1st half capped off by senior midfielder Jake Weber's (Lititz, PA) 19th goal of the season to extend Ursinus' lead to 5-2.

Ursinus dominated the second half start to finish as they outscored Haverford 6-3. Desenberg would tally two more goals in the second half to complete the hat trick and leave the game as Ursinus' leading scorer.

Junior goalie Brian Neff (Lititz, PA) anchored a tough defense turning aside shot after shot to finish the game with 9 total saves.

The win moved Ursinus to 11-2 overall, their most in school history, and 6-1 in the Centennial Conference, their most in conference history. The Bears return to the playoffs for the second time in school in history, the other playoff appearance coming in 2011, and for the first time will host a CC playoff game.

Coach Steele has overseen both playoff appearances and will look to give Ursinus another first when they host their playoff game next Wednesday, TBA, its first Centennial Conference Playoff win.

Ursinus will conclude the regular season this Saturday, April 25th at McDaniel College with a 4:00 PM game.
