Ursinus Men's Lacrosse fell two goals short of the upset against #3 Gettysburg College, 9-7. In what was one of the biggest if not the biggest game in recent memory for Ursinus the Bears fought like warriors but just didn't have enough in the tank to grab the victory.

            The Bears wasted no time getting things started as freshmen midfielder Ian Desenberg (York, PA) found the back of the net just over three minutes into the game to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. Less than 50 second later sophomore attackman Connor Fitzgerald (Hillsborough, NJ) struck gold for the Bears extending the lead to 2-0.

            However, Gettysburg would not go away quietly as they tallied three of the next four goals scored in the quarter. Senior midfielder Jack Harvazinski (Setauket, NY) capped off the scoring as he scored to tie the game at 3-3 with five seconds left to go in the 1^st quarter.

            The Bullets dominated the 2^nd quarter tallying three goals to Ursinus' one. The biggest reason for Gettysburg success in the quarter was turnovers. The Bullets committed zero (13 on the day), while Ursinus committed four (23 on the day). Senior midfielder Jimmy Morris (Waccabuc, NY) scored with just over six minutes left in the half to extend Gettysburg's lead to 6-4 at the half.

            The Bears came out firing though in the 3^rd quarter when senior attackman Mark Stratton (Lititz, PA) netted his 20^th goal of the season pulling Ursinus to within one at 6-5. From there though Gettysburg controlled the game scoring three straight goals, extending their lead to 9-5 with just under two minutes to go in the game.

             Ursinus tallied two late goals cutting the deficit to 9-7 when senior midfielder Ian Moore (Fair Haven, NJ) netted back-to-back goals. However, it was not enough to rally the Bears back and Gettysburg escaped with the victory.

            The loss dropped the Bears to 9-2 overall and 4-1 in the conference. Gettysburg in the meantime moved to 12-0 overall and 5-0 in the conference and now sit in sole possession of first place in the tight CC race. Ursinus will play at home next Saturday against the Mules of Muhlenberg at 12:00 PM for senior day.
