CARLISLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's lacrosse team moved to 3-0 in the Centennial Conference, picking up an 8-3 win at Dickinson on Saturday. The Bears, who are now 7-1 overall, scored the first five goals of the game and led by as much as seven en route to their first win in Carlisle since 2008.
Ursinus is also 3-0 in the Centennial for the first time since 2010.
For the Bears, freshman midfielder Ian Desenberg (York, Pa./Central York) had two goals, as did senior attack Mark Stratton (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township).
Junior Brian Neff (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) was outstanding in goal, making 14 saves to improve to 7-1.
For Dickinson, Chris Menard had two goals. Nick Baxter made 14 saves for the Red Devils (2-7, 0-2 Centennial).
Ursinus got four goals in the first quarter, all within a span of 3:33. Senior defender Ryan Ridinger (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) got it started with an assisted goal at 8:12, followed by a goal from freshman midfielder Gerard Brown (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) at 6:44 to give the Bears a 2-0 lead.
Desenberg then scored twice, the first on an assist from Stratton at 5:27, while Desenberg scored solo at 4:39 for a 4-0 lead.
In the second quarter, junior attack Logan Panaccione (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) scored an extra-man goal at 8:01 on an assist from senior attack Steve Smyrl (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley).
Leading 5-1 at intermission, Ursinus went up 7-1 as Smyrl scored at 6:40 in the third, followed by Stratton scoring on a Brown assist with 3:10 left in the third.
Ursinus' final goal came at 6:40 in the fourth when Stratton scored unassisted.
Individually, junior long stick midfielder Patrick O'Donoghue (Whitehouse Station, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) had five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Ursinus has the week off and will host Eastern on Saturday in its final non-conference game of the season.
