CHESTERTOWN, Md. – After scoring the first two goals of the game, Ursinus saw Washington score the next six as the 10th-ranked Shoremen (11-1, 4-1 Centennial) handed Ursinus (6-4, 0-4 Centennial) a 17-5 loss Wednesday night.
Ursinus took an early lead 3:10 into the game as Jake Weber scored on an assist from Mark Stratton. Steve Smyrl would extend the lead to 2-0 with a goal at 9:44.
After Washington scored the next six, Ursinus got an extra man goal with 2:16 from Stratton via a Weber assist.
Washington would then score the next seven goals, before Weber added his second with 7:22 left in the game. Ursinus would score one last goal with six seconds left as Robert Dewey scored on a Liam Duke assist.
Weber finished with two goals and an assist on the night, while Stratton finished with a goal and an assist.
Shawn Caven finished with eight ground balls as he went 11-for-23 on faceoffs. Brian Neff finished with 14 saves in 53 minutes.
Ursinus hosts Gettysburg on Saturday.
