Men's Lacrosse downed by F&M, 10-9

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus nearly rallied from a late three-goal deficit on Wednesday night, but, Franklin & Marshall (5-3, 2-0 Centennial) held on to defeat the Bears (5-2, 0-2 Centennial) 10-9 on Wednesday night in men's lacrosse action.

The Diplomats held a two-goal lead after three periods of play, and were up 10-7 with 6:41 left in the game before Ursinus attempted its final charge.

Senior attack Tristan Miller had four goals for the Diplomats, while A.J. Reichert scored two.

For Ursinus, the Bears were led by freshman attack Logan Panaccione (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) who scored a team-high four goals. Sophomore midfielder Jake Weber (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) had three assists on the night.

Ursinus did have a 3-1 lead after the first quarter as sophomore defender Ryan Ridinger (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township), sophomore midfielder Ian Moore (Fair Haven, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) each had goals. Panaccione had his first goal of the game with 3:07 left, on an assist by Weber to give the Bears a 3-1 lead.

After F&M scored three straight to get to 4-3, Ursinus got a goal from Panaccione with 12 seconds left in the second quarter to tie the score at 4-all at intermission.

Both teams traded goals in the third quarter, before F&M got two late goals from Miller and junior attack Billy Kempner. Kempner's goal with 1:40 left gave the Diplomats a 7-5 lead.

Down 10-7, Ursinus got a goal from freshman attack Steve Mussoline (Macungie, Pa./ACC) and Panaccione with 1:07 left to cut the deficit to one. Ursinus won the ensuing faceoff but did not score.

Ursinus got six groundballs from freshman goalkeeper Brian Neff (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) who had 15 saves on the night.

Ursinus heads to Dickinson on Saturday.
