MLax drops game to Swarthmore, 13-9

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Swarthmore scored five straight goals in the second quarter on Saturday afternoon, propelling the Garnet (2-4, 1-0 Centennial) to a 13-9 win over Ursinus (5-1, 0-1 Centennial) in men's lacrosse action at Clothier Field. 

The Garnet broke open a 2-2 tie at the end of the first quarter. Ursinus got to withing three the rest of the way but could not get any closer.

The Bears got two goals each from sophomore attack Mark Stratton (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township), sophomore midfielder Ian Moore (Fair Haven, N.J./Fair Haven-Rumson) and junior midfielder Dylan Spangenberg (Downingtown, Pa./Malvern Prep). Stratton also chipped in with two assists while Spangenberg added one as well. 

Individually, Ursinus did force 17 Swarthmore turnovers on the day with Spangenberg accounting for three. He scooped up four ground balls as well. 

Freshman goalkeeper Brian Neff (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) made four saves in the loss.

Ursinus will host F&M on Wednesday night.
