Men's Lacrosse rallies for 10-8 win over Montclair State

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus got four goals from sophomore attack Mark Stratton (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) and six assists from sophomore midfielder Jake Weber (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) as the Bears (4-0) rallied from a four-goal deficit in the third quarter to take a 10-8 win over Montclair State (3-2) on Wednesday afternoon in men's lacrosse action.

Ursinus scored seven straight goals, including two extra-man goals, in over a span of 14 minutes to remain unbeaten. The game was full of streaks, as Montclair scored six straight goals, including five goals in a span of 3:45 in the second quarter.

Sophomore attack Steve Smyrl (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) had three goals, with freshman attack Logan Pananccione (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) scoring two. Panaccione also added an assist.

For Montclair, sophomore attack Michael Jevic had three goals while sophomore midfielder Michael Schreck added two.

Ursinus also got a strong performance from freshman goalkeeper Brian Neff (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) who made 17 saves to improve to 4-0.

Individually, Ursinus got five ground balls from Smyrl, while junior midfielder Nile Thompson (Merion Station, Pa./Lower Merion) and junior midfielder Shawn Caven (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) each grabbed four.

In the X, Caven was 4-6 on faceoffs, while freshman midfielder James Fairchild (Wayne, Pa./Malvern Prep) was 3-for-8. Neff also caused two turnovers on the day.

Ursinus, who was receiving votes in the latest USILA Division III Coaches Poll, will host Eastern next Tuesday at 7 at Patterson Field.
