Men's Lacrosse falls in CC semi to Dickinson, 12-3

CARLISLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's lacrosse team scored the first goal of the game in their first trip to the Centennial Conference playoffs on Friday afternoon, only to see sixth-ranked Dickinson scored the next 12 as the Red Devils (15-1) advanced to the conference final for the first time in school history with a 12-3 win over the Bears (9-6) at Biddle Field.

The Red Devils will take on Gettysburg Sunday afternoon.

Ursinus got their first goal from sophomore attack Brian Weil (Middletown, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) 1:22 in on an assist from junior midfielder Mike Bloom (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) that gave the Bears their only lead. Weil would score two goals, with senior midfielder Tyler Hughes (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport) tacking one on with 25 seconds left in the game on an assist from sophomore midfielder Noah Levin (Narberth, Pa./Harriton).

Bobby Kingsley had five goals for the Red Devils, including four in a span of close to six minutes bridging the second and third quarters. Matt Cherry tossed in two goals and had an assist, while Ward Gruppp scored two goals and had two assists.

For the Bears, sophomore goalkeeper Josh Baker (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) had 18 saves and seven ground balls. Freshman face off specialist Shawn Caven (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) was 9-for-15 on faceoffs on the afternoon.
