Men's Lacrosse falls to nationally-ranked Roanoke

SALEM, Va. – The Ursinus College men's lacrosse team suffered its loss of the season, falling 17-10 to fifth-ranked Roanoke on Wednesday afternoon.

Junior midfielder Jeff Ocampo (Palm Coast, Fla./Mantanzas) scored four goals in the loss, while adding in one assist. Sophomore attack Brian Weil (Middletown, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy), junior attack Andrew Bean (Tampa, Fla./Freedom), senior midfielder Pat Gillen (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun), freshman attack Jordan Demcher (Springfield, Pa./Springfield (Delco), senior longstick midfielder Tom Adelsberger (Sea Isle City, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) and sophomore attack Taylor Allen (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Bluepoint) also scored goals in the loss. Bean and Weil also added in assists.

Roanoke scored the first four goals of the game, before Ursinus got on the board at 11:59 when Ocampo scored unassisted. Weil's first goal of the game, off a Bean assist five seconds later got Ursinus within two at 4-2. That would be the closest Ursinus could get all afternoon.

Trailing 6-3 with 7:04 left in the second quarter, Ursinus saw Roanoke scored four straight goals to go up 10-3 and never looked back.

Ursinus did finish up strong, however, as the Bears scored the last four goals of the game, including two extra man goals, to pull within 17-10.

Adelsberger had ten groundballs along with five caused turnovers. Freshman midfielder Shawn Caven (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) had nine ground balls and was 13-for-28 on faceoffs.

Sophomore goalkeeper Josh Baker (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) made 15 saves in the loss for the Bears.

Ursinus will host Eastern on Saturday.
