ST. DAVIDS,
Pa. – Ursinus scored eight straight goals as the Bears (4-0)
stayed undefeated with an 8-1 win over Eastern (2-2) Saturday
afternoon in a men’s lacrosse contest contested in heavy
rain.
The Bears forced 22 Eagle turnovers in the
win.
Senior midfielder Eric Farris
(Pottsgrove, Pa./Pottsgrove) netted three goals, while
sophomore attack David Kraus (Madison, Conn./Daniel
Hand) added in two. Senior attack Dan Monzo
(Collegeville, Pa./Senior-Ford), sophomore midfielder
Jeff Ocampo (Palm Coast, Fla./Mantanzas) and
senior attack Pat Nagle (Stony Brook, N.Y/Ward
Melville) also netted goals for the Bears.
Junior long stick midfielder Ernie
Constantine (Bethpage, N.Y./St. Dominic), Kraus and Monzo
also picked up assists.
Farris scored his first goal with 5:56 left in
the first quarter for a 1-0 lead. Nagle’s goal came with 7:35
left in the second for a 2-0 lead, followed by a goal from Ocampo
with just 1:20 left to make the halftime score 3-0.
Farris’ second goal came 31 seconds into
the third quarter for a 4-0 lead, followed by a goal from Kraus
four minutes later to increase the lead to 5-0.
Monzo scored his first goal with 8:53 left in the
third on an assist from Constantine, followed by Kraus goal with
7:11 left in the third for a 7-0 lead.
Farris got the hat trick on a man-up goal with
10:01 left in the fourth quarter.
Freshman goalkeeper T.J. Magnani
(Bear, Del./Saint Mark’s) had eight saves in the
win. Senior defender Matt Conway (Plymouth Meeting,
Pa./Germantown Academy) picked up three groundballs, while
also forcing two turnovers.
Ursinus will
host Swarthmore on Wednesday.
