ELVERSON, Pa. – Junior Daniel Schlitt logged the best round of his collegiate career to headline the Ursinus College men's golf team's balanced effort at its annual spring invitational.
Schlitt carded a 38 on the back nine holes as part of a personal-best 81 at Stonewall's North Course, landing one stroke behind sophomore Ryan Hodgdon for the team lead.
The Bears finished seventh with a team total of 330 in a tight leaderboard that saw the top eight teams in a field of nine separated by 32 strokes. Penn State Berks claimed champion honors with a 301, with Dickinson (309) in second and Moravian (311) in third.
The Lions' Jacob Siegfried was awarded medalist honors after posting the lowest back-nine score among four golfers who all finished tied on 74 strokes for the day. His teammate, Matt Krieder, was runner-up in a deadlock with Dickinson's Tyler Caballero and Moravian's Joe Rochelle.
Hodgdon logged 40 on both halves of the course, recording seven pars and a birdie on the par-4 14th hole.
Schlitt racked up eight pars and only finished above bogey on one hole. He shot 38 on the back nine, the best on the team.
Freshman Kyle Quagliero was right there with Hodgdon and Schlitt, tallying an 82 and splitting those strokes evenly between the front and back nine.
Freshman John Murray made it a career-low in three consecutive appearances, this time scoring a 91 to match fellow rookie Kai Toomey. Both had a 45 on the front nine and a 46 on the back.
Sophomores Liam Bradley (131) and Ryan Moliken (137) rounded out the Bears' eight-man contingent.
