Men's Golf Takes 3rd at Fall Invite

POTTSTOWN, Pa. – Kyle Quagliero and Brian Barrett each shot below 80 and finished in the top-10 as the Ursinus College men's golf team finished third at its annual fall invitational at Raven's Claw on Monday.

Quagliero, the freshman who won the Neumann/Swarthmore Invitational in his collegiate debut, carded a four-over 75 to tie for second place in a field of 52 golfers. Barrett, meanwhile, fired a 78 in one of the best round of his career.

The proficiency of Barrett and Quagliero helped the Ursinus Gold team to place third overall, tallying a team total of 322. Rutgers-Camden won the team trophy with a 306, while Albright edged out the Bears by three strokes for second place.

Quagliero produced three birdies on the front nine, including two in a row on the par-3 3rd and par-4 4th holes. He added another on the par-4 8th and did not have anything higher than a bogey.

Barrett racked up 11 pars on the afternoon and made birdie on the par-5 6th, helping him to finish in a tie for sixth overall.

Junior Ryan Hodgdon shot 83 for Ursinus, and freshman Rob Moore marked an 86. Senior Bennett Collins rounded out the Gold squad with an 89 that included a birdie on the par-5 7th.

Junior Jack Bagnell led the Black team with a 92, while rookie Kai Toomey posted 93 with a birdie on the 13th. Junior Daniel Schlitt shot 95 with a birdie on the 16th hole.

Freshman John Murray finished with an even 100 and sophomore Ryan Moliken carded a 119.

The Bears compete at the Muhlenberg Invitational on October 1.
