WILMINGTON, Del. – The Ursinus College men's golf team received strong performances from its sophomores in the season-opening Swarthmore-Neumann Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

Second-year swingers Brian Barrett (81), Ryan Hodgdon (81), and Jack Bagnell (82) led the way as the Bears carded a team total of 333 at Rock Manor Golf Club, tied for ninth in a field of 16.

Barrett registered a birdie on the par-3 3rd and an eagle on the par-5 18th, finishing one stroke shy of his collegiate best to tie for 29th place among 82 golfers. He posted par on five other holes.

Hodgdon also birdied the 3rd hole and recorded another on the par-4 17th, while Bagnell tallied nine pars in matching his career-best score from last year's Muhlenberg Invitational.

Senior Ryan Crawford scattered four pars over the first nine holes on the way to an 89, and classmate Matthew Sherman signed for a 95.

Swarthmore's White team claimed the team crown with a 13-over 297, nine strokes clear of second-place Moravian, and the Garnet's Michael Brown took home individual medalist honors with a 3-under 68. Fellow Centennial Conference foe Muhlenberg was fourth in the team standings at 320.

The Bears host their fall invitational on Tuesday, September 26.
