Men's Golf Seventh at Knight Invitational

BLUE BELL, Pa. – Another strong outing from sophomore Noah Steiner headlined the Ursinus College men's golf team's last tune-up for the Centennial Conference Championship.

Less than a week removed from firing a career-best 78, shaving more than ten strokes off his previous collegiate low, Steiner led the Bears' contingent for the second time in as many tournaments with an 81 to tie for 16th overall at the Arcadia Knight Invitational on Monday afternoon.

Steiner's latest impressive round sparked the Bears to a seventh-place finish in a field of 11; Ursinus compiled a team total of 334. Albright garnered the team trophy with a 305, followed by Penn State Berks (316), Penn State Abington (323), Immaculata (324), FDU-Florham (325), William Paterson (333), Ursinus (334), Stockton (339), Widener (358), Delaware Valley (377), and Arcadia (387).

The Bears placed all five of their entrants at 85 or below. Freshman Jack Bagnell and junior Ryan Crawford tallied matching 84's; for Bagnell, it matched his second-best performance of the season, while Crawford recorded his eighth card of 85 or better in 11 appearances.

Senior Anthony Barbine and freshman Brian Barrett rounded out Ursinus' group with 85's. Barbine fell one stroke shy of his season best, and Barrett continued his remarkable consistency; the rookie has shot between 83 and 87 on seven occasions this season, and between 80 and 89 in all 11 of his rounds.

The men's golf team has a week and a half to prepare for the Centennial Conference Championship. The three-day tournament begins Friday, April 28 at The Bridges Golf Club.
