Men's Golf Places 10th at Muhlenberg Invitational

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Junior Lamar Saxon and freshman Ryan Hodgdon repeated their scores from last week's home invitational as the Ursinus College men's golf team tied for 10th at Monday's Muhlenberg Invitational.

Saxon (78) and Hodgdon (79) turned in the lowest cards for the Bears, who totaled a 322 to match FDU-Florham and Susquehanna and round out the top 10 team scores. The host Mules ran away with the team crown, outshooting Eastern, Lebanon Valley, and Moravian by 14 strokes to claim the trophy with a 290. Cabrini (305) was one shot back of that threesome in fifth, and the Cavaliers were succeeded by Alvernia (312), Wesley (317), Penn State-Berks (318), DeSales (320), Ursinus, FDU-Florham, and Susquehanna.

DeSales' Schuyler Hart finished the par 70, 6415-yard course at Lehigh Valley Country Club in a 3-under 67, edging out Muhlenberg's Ian Simon (68) by a single stroke to capture the individual championship. The Mules' John Froberg fired an even-par 70.

Saxon finished tied for 26th with his second consecutive round of 78, posting a birdie on the par-4 12th hole.

Hodgdon signed for a 79 for the third consecutive round to begin his collegiate career. The rookie had eight pars and a birdie on the par-3 13th.

Freshman Jack Bagnell produced his lowest score to date with an 82, and fellow first-year Brian Barrett was right behind with an 83.

Junior Ryan Crawford closed out the Bears' group with an 86.

The men's golf squad takes its next swings on the weekend of October 15-16, when Ursinus hosts the annual Revolutionary Collegiate Classic at Patriots Glen in Elkton, Maryland.
