Men's Golf Posts Season-Best Score at Rosemont Spring Invite

HONEY BROOK, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's golf team turned in its best score of the season in Sunday's Rosemont Spring Invitational, registering a 317 to place fifth in a 13-team field at Honeybrook Golf Course.

Immaculata took home the team championship with a 307, edging Philadelphia University by a single stroke. Neumann was third with a 314, followed by St. Joseph's (L.I.) on 316, the Bears, USciences (324), Bucks County CC (327), Albright (335), Cairn (374), Rosemont (387), Centenary (401), Wilson (408), and Summit (429).

Robby Bray of St. Joseph's (L.I.) won the individual crown by one stroke over Neumann's Brandon Gagne, Albright's Vinny Marfisi, and Immaculata's Jay Spatacco.

When Saturday's snow reduced the tournament to a one-day event, 64 golfers took to the links on a cool, breezy afternoon in Honey Brook. Sophomore Lamar Saxon led the Bears with a six-over 76 on the 6341-yard course, tying him with three others for sixth overall and landing him just three strokes off the tournament lead.

Sophomore Ryan Crawford fired a 79 for his best round of the season and a tie for 17th place, and freshman Bennett Collins matched his career low with an 80. Senior Matthew Holmes rounded out the Bears' top four with an 82, and junior Anthony Barbine recorded an 87.

Ursinus' team tally of 317 was their best of the season, and the Bears' lowest mark since they scored a 307 at last year's spring invitational.

The men's golf team tunes up for the Centennial Conference championship by hosting its spring invitational on Tuesday, April 12.
