Hughes Named PSCBA Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA – Behind three-straight 20+ point appearances in the past week, Ursinus men's basketball senior Ryan Hughes was named the Philadelphia Small College Basketball Association Player of the Week, announced on Wednesday.

 

Hughes helped guide the Bears to a 2-1 record last week and averaged 22.3 points per game and shot 52.4 percent (22-of-42) from the field. He also went an efficient 75.9 percent (22-of-29) from the free throw line and averaged 4.7 rebounds per game. Hughes opened the week with a season-high 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the Bears 94-79 victory over Dickinson on January 11th and followed with 20 points, five points, and three assists in a convincing 87-69 win over Haverford on January 13th. He capped his week with 22 points, four assists, and two rebounds in the Bears battle with then No. 12 Johns Hopkins this past Saturday.

 

The Middletown, Pa. native has been a dynamic force in his senior year as he currently ranks second in the Centennial at 19.0 points per game, third in rebounds per game at 6.9, and fifth in field goal percentage at 51.8%. He has scored in double-figures in all but one game this season and has recorded four double-doubles.

 

The Bears return to action on Saturday, January 22nd as they will travel to face McDaniel at 2 p.m.
