Williams Named CC Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. – After a scorching sojourn in the Sunshine State, Ursinus College men's basketball senior Eric Williams Jr. was selected as the Centennial Conference player of the week.

Williams poured in 55 points in a pair of games for the Bears at the Land of Magic Classic, hitting on 13 of his 26 attempts from 3-point range to continue his assault on the conference record books. The senior captain hit seven triples on the way to dropping a season-high 31 points in a 114-101 loss to 5th-ranked Hamilton, then canned six more – all in the first half – as part of a 24-point effort in a 95-77 setback to Ithaca.

The CC leader with 42 made 3-pointers this season, Williams has moved up to fifth in conference history with 267 for his career and needs 43 more to eclipse the mark owned by Franklin & Marshall's Brandon Federici. He ranks in the league's top-5 in a wide range of statistical categories, topping the charts in minutes per game (34.5) while sitting second in scoring (18.3 PPG); third in free-throw percentage (87.5); fourth in made field goals (62), 3-point percentage (46.2), and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2); and fifth in free throws made (35).

Williams is a player of the week for the third time in his career. He also earned that distinction twice during his sophomore campaign.

Williams and the Bears open 2019 schedule at home against Rosemont on Thursday night.
