McTamney Named Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. – After burning through the nets in a pair of high-scoring performances, Ursinus College men's basketball standout Ryan McTamney was chosen as the Centennial Conference player of the week.

McTamney was sensational as the Bears (4-3, 2-1) gained a split of two league affairs, averaging 26.0 points per game while shooting 66.7 percent overall and 70.0 percent from 3-point range. The junior wing carried Ursinus to a 65-58 victory at Washington College on Thursday, producing a game-high 25 points on 8-of-14 from the field and canning four of his five 3-point attempts. Nineteen of McTamney's points came in the second half to help keep the Shoremen at arm's length.

McTamney led all scorers again on Saturday, banking 27 points in an 87-82 loss to Dickinson. He was a remarkable 12-for-16 from the floor and hit on 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, keeping Ursinus close throughout the game and nearly spurring the hosts to overcome a 12-point deficit inside the final four minutes.

Enjoying another breakout campaign, McTamney is the Centennial's leading scorer at 21.6 points per game, almost five more than the next player. He is first in the conference in total field goals (54), fourth in free throws made (25), seventh in free-throw percentage (80.6), and seventh in 3-pointers made (16). He joins classmate Shane Stark as Ursinus players to earn CC weekly honors this season.
