Four Make NABC Honors Court

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Ursinus College men's basketball graduates Remi Janicot and Brian Rafferty were named alongside rising seniors Matt Williams and Paul Cottam to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honor Court, the organization announced Friday.

The Honors Court recognizes juniors and seniors with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better at the end of the 2017-18 academic year. The Bears' four Honors Court recipients are the most since they had six in 2009.

A neuroscience major and three-time member of the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, Janicot played in all 27 games at forward for Ursinus during the past season. The Paris native averaged 7.9 points per game and ranked third on the team at 3.9 rebounds per game, ending his career with 830 points and 620 rebounds.

Rafferty, an applied economics major, led the CC with 4.4 assists per game in addition to 4.6 points and 3.4 rebounds. He capped his career with 456 assists, good for fifth in conference history.

An Applied Economics major, Williams was an integral part of the Bears' second unit, providing hard-nosed defense and a physical presence on the wing. He posted per-game averages of 4.2 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.

An Economics major with minors in international relations and political science, Cottam appeared in six contests last season, scoring six points and grabbing seven rebounds.

After leading Ursinus to a 15-12 overall record (11-7 CC) and its first playoff victory since 2008, Janicot and Rafferty comprise half of a four-man core of returning starters for the 2017-18 campaign.
