Men's Basketball takes Dickinson to wire, falls 81-76

CARLISLE, Pa. – Facing Centennial Conference leading Dickinson, the Ursinus College men's basketball team once again found themselves in the thick of things, tied with the Red Devils at 74-all with two minutes to go.

However, Dickinson finished the game on a 7-2 run to take an 81-76 decision over Ursinus (3-18, 1-13 Centennial) at the Kline Center. Dickinson (17-4, 12-2 Centennial) put three players in double figures, paced by 26 from Gerry Wixted and 14 points from Adam Honig.

Ursinus got 20 points from senior forward Ryan Adams, with sophomore guard Malik Draper scoring 15 and freshman guard John Kanas scoring ten. Senior guard Pat Vasturia scored 13 points off the bench for the Bears.

The Bears found themselves with three at halftime as they trailed 47-44. In the second half, the Bears tied the score several times including 74-all with two minutes left on a three-pointer by Draper.

After Honig made a layup with 1:46 left to go up two, Ted Hinnenkamp made a layup followed a layer control foul from Adams with one minute left for a 78-74 Dickinson lead. Senior Jesse Krasna, who scored six points to get within 59 of 1,000 for his career, made two foul shots with 44 seconds left to put the Bears within a basket at 78-76. 

Tucker Landy's three-pointer with 14 seconds left iced the game for the Red Devils.

Draper finished with five steals for the Bears, while Adams had five rebounds.

Ursinus hosts F&M on Wednesday at 6, the first of two straight home matchups to close the home portion of their schedule.
