LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall got 18 points from Matt Porter as the Diplomats (15-5, 10-3 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (7-13, 5-8 Centennial) 76-58 on Thursday night at the Mayser Center in men's basketball action.
The Diplomats used a huge 17-8 offensive rebounding edge to take the win.
The Bears were led by 14 points from senior forward Jon Ward (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and ten points from senior forward Kevin Janowski (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) in the loss.
Franklin & Marshall pulled away in the first half as the Diplomats held Ursinus to just one field goal over a ten minute span to go up 13 at 27-14. Despite the drought, Ursinus actually shot better than F&M in the first half as the Bears connected on 37.5 percent of their shots compared to 35.3 percent.
However, the Diplomats had a commanding 27-12 lead on the glass in the first 20 minutes with a 12-1 edge on the offensive glass.
In the second half, the Bears were not able to get closer than 14 points.
Ursinus heads to Gettysburg Saturday.
