CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Ursinus rallied from 16-point second half to tie the score with 1:18 before remaining, but, could not take the lead as Washington (2-14, 2-7 Centennial) handed the Bears (6-10, 4-5 Centennial) a 70-68 loss in men's basketball play.

Ursinus was led by freshman guard Malik Draper (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Area) who had 20 points, followed by 15 points from junior point guard Jesse Krasna (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury). 

Junior guard Ryan Adams (White Plains, N.Y./The Hun School) posted a double-double had he grabbed 12 points and ten rebounds in the loss.

Washington got 27 points from guard Stephen Poarch, who also grabbed ten rebounds. The Shoremen sank ten three-pointers in the win and forced 18 Ursinus turnovers.

Trailing by 13 at intermission, Ursinus went down 51-35 with 15:30 left when Poarch made a layup. Down 61-49, Ursinus went on a 9-0 run to get to within three at 61-58 on a three-point play by Draper.

Following two foul shots by Poarch, a three-pointer by Krasna with 4:11 left got the Bears within two at 63-61. The two teams then traded foul shots, before 1-of-2 foul shots from Krasna got the Bears within one with 2:01 left. Krasna then made 1-of-2 again with 1:18 left to tie the score at 65-all.

Trailing 68-65, Krasna made a layup with 22 seconds left to get within one. After a Washington foul shot, Draper missed a layup with nine seconds left.

Washington left the door open when Poarch made 1-of-2 foul shots with seven seconds left to keep the Bears within three at 70-67.

Krasna was fouled, made one foul shot with one second left but could not get a shot off after missing the second.

Ursinus will host Swarthmore on Saturday.
